To approve as a correct record the minutes of the previous meeting held on 18 May 2016.

Minutes:

The minutes of the Appointments Committee meeting held on 18th May 2016, copies of which had been circulated, were taken as read and, having been approved as a correct record, were signed by the Chairman, subject to the following clarification at the conclusion of minute 4: Discussion of Process to Recruit a Chief Executive Officer (Confidential):-

Note: subsequent to the meeting, it was agreed to select Penna as the agency to assist with the recruitment process.

Apologies for Absence

Minutes:

An apology for absence was received from Councillor Andrew Turpin. 

 

Councillor Tony Capozzoli acted as substitute on his behalf.

Declarations of Interest

Minutes:

There were no declarations of interest made.

9.

Exclusion of the Public - Closed Session

At this meeting the Committee is asked to consider the selection and appointment of a Chief Executive Officer for South Somerset District Council. It is therefore recommended that from this point onwards the Committee move into closed session for the remainder of its meeting.

 

Members are requested to pass the following resolution:

 

That members of the press and public be excluded from the meeting in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972 Schedule 12A paragraphs 1.

Discussion of Process to Recruit a Chief Executive Officer (Confidential) pdf icon PDF 89 KB

The Appointments Committee will consider interview, testing and background information on the candidates selected for final interview for the post of Chief Executive Officer.

 

Members are requested to make a recommendation to Council on the candidate to be appointed to the post of Chief Executive Officer, or alternatively to decide that no candidate meets the requirements for appointment.

That the Appointments Committee recommend to Council the appointment of Alex Parmley of Eastleigh Borough Council as Chief Executive Officer for South Somerset District Council, subject to suitable references and other checks.
