Purpose of committee
Update from 6th May 2021 to January 2022.
SSDC have agreed to continue to hold on-line meetings during this period. These meetings are open to the public and we will continue to stream them on YouTube.
At the Full Council meeting of 15th April, (see Agenda item 10) SSDC Councillors agreed to delegate decisions, including Executive and Quasi-Judicial decisions, that would have been taken by those meetings if the Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority and Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 had continued in force to the Chief Executive (or the relevant Director in the Chief Executive’s absence) in consultation with those meetings and those members to whom the decision would otherwise have been delegated under Part 3 of the Constitution.
This allows Councillors to continue to meet on-line as informal consultative meetings and make a recommendation to the Chief Executive on the reports they consider. This arrangement was originally agreed until 31 July 2021 in the anticipation that in-person meetings would resume without the need for social distancing and it was extended to 8th January 2022 by a resolution of Full Council on 8th July 2021.
