Board of Governors for Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Description

The Trust’s principal purpose is the provision of goods and services for the purposes of the health service in England.  Whilst remaining part of the NHS, being an Foundation Trust means control is transferred away from central Government allowing the Trust greater autonomy to manage its own affairs, making it publicly accountable to the local population through its membership.  The role of the Board of Governors is to hold the Trust accountable to its duty as a public benefit corporation. The Council of Governors comprises public governors elected by the membership, appointed governors from health authorities, local authorities and educational institutions connected with the hospital and staff governors.
